D.O.C. Unlimited is a design-build firm based in Athens, Georgia, which was incorporated in 1993. The firm is led by principles Carl Martin and Carol John, who trained as artist/designers in New York City through the 1980’s at the School of Visual Arts. Past work has included residences, an art cinema, office complexes, historic preservation and furniture. The idea of community sustainability is important to the firm, and is most prominent in D.O.C.’s urban work. It is an idea that includes both quantitative performance considerations and a more holistic approach to the experiential aspects of built places.
